Nine Months More

An Art party, with The Flash

My baby turned four. As he blew out the candles on his cake, he wished aloud that he “wanted to be a grown up.” In my heart, I lassoed that wish right back! Then hugged him a little tighter and wished instead that he would stay my baby forever.

PJ loves life with such abundance; it is hard not to be consumed by happiness and excitement when you are around him. For such a little person, he has a big personality and an even bigger opinion. Planning his birthday party left me and my sister dizzy. He loves arts and crafts, adores The Flash and everything needs to have sparkly stars! So the fusion of his party theme was born. An Art party, with The Flash, with Sparkly Stars thrown in.

Our house was filled with all the things that PJ loves. Cupcakes, popcorn, fairy floss and lots of cake! Art and craft for hours. Face painting and balloon animals. A piñata – of which PJ insisted on having the final smash! A photo booth to capture the memories and an impromptu concert thrown by the kids at the end.

At the end of the day, after I had kicked off my heels and slipped into my flats, PJ slid onto my lap. “Thank you so much Mum, my party was amazing.” As I stroked his soft, blonde hair, breathing in the softness of my little man, I thought to myself, “no, little man. You are amazing.”

I wonder what crazy adventures next year’s party will bring?

Just like AJ’s Lego party, there are many people to thank for making PJ’s birthday wishes come true;

adelphi mou for the perfect invitations, custom paperie and cake design – your designs were awesome little sis xx
Frostalicious Cupcake Creations for the divine cupcakes, edible cupcake toppers, cake pops and amazing cupcakes in the mason jars
Baked by Belinda for the incredible cake – she brought adelphi mou’s design to life perfectly
Mini Picasso’s for hours of art and craft
Kiddly-Winks for the amazing face painting and balloon animal creations
All for Kids Party Hire for the great popcorn machine, fairy floss machine and kids table and chairs – the popcorn and fairy floss were a huge hit!

Wow! That’s a very impressive looking party! And I’m pleased he likes the Flash – the most under-rated superhero, with an earnestness like Capt America. I LOVE him – my middle child wore a Flash costume almost daily for a year when he was 4….

    • He adores the Flashy and has for quite some time!! Sadly, his Flash costume is getting small for him, otherwise he would still be in it xx

  • toushka

Aston was old enough this year to really appreciate all of the little decorations and the cake, I loved seeing how wide his smile and eyes went every single time he seen something that blew him away.
Can I ask what you use to edit your photos? I love the way your blog post looks and am looking for new ways to edit mine.

    • thank you so much for stopping by!! I edit all my photos in Adobe Lightroom – I have a few presets that I randomly use, most of the time all I do is add a little brightness, hope this helps xx

      • Thanks for sharing. I just really like the way you dismayed them in this post, it looks really nice. I hope your son had a wonderful day, love the invite abc so many things with this party!
