Protecting your child from disturbing Youtube content

From Peppa Pig to old cartoons from our own childhood – YouTube is often today’s virtual babysitter. My six-year-old watches YouTube, on a supervised laptop that sits on our kitchen table. I am always only a few metres away and can hear and see all the content he is watching. The channel EvanTubeHD has become a huge hit at our place. So much so, that my son has asked for his own YouTube channel – just like Evan’s. Evan is a little boy who posts videos about his new toys or the latest kinder surprise his mother has bought him. However innocent this may seem, the idea that my son wanted to have his own channel on YouTube made me stop and question what are our YouTube boundaries?
