Pieces of Me

Promises to the Ocean

Sometimes you need to get away.
For no real reason other than it is good for you.
To just let everything go.
And remember how good it is to be in each other’s arms and to hold each other’s hand.

Promises to the Ocean

To sit in the sun.
Soak in the warmth and feel the breeze tug away at your thoughts.
To sink your feet in the sand.
And breathe in the ocean.

Promises to the Ocean

To play until we collapse.
Chasing thrills at theme parks and long walks along the shore.
To eat and eat and eat, forgetting about diets and just indulging.
And falling asleep knowing that there is no work tomorrow.

Promises to the Ocean

To watch the sunset.
To listen to the waves crash.
Staring out the window each morning, coffee cup in hand, listening only to your soul.
And make promises to the ocean.

Promises to the Ocean

Have you ever made promises to the ocean?

Beautiful post, Josefa. Sounds like the most amazing holiday. The pics of you and your fam are gorgeous, especially the one of the boys. I make promises to the ocean when I find the time to get there. I love the beach. It has such a healing effect on me šŸ™‚

  • Meagan

Oh Josefa! I LOVE that last shot! melted my heart… in fact, this whole post does… Time to reconnect with the ones closest to you is such a wonderful thing.
I make promises to the ocean ALL THE TIME. Its my fave place to Zen out too! x

  • LydiaCLee

so lovely – I am a big fan of escaping with just the fam – the dynamic changes and there are no intrusions on time from friends and relatives. It’s very healthy.

  • MissMandy

I know exactly what you mean and there is just something about the ocean isn’t there.

  • yep, the ocean is my escape, too. I love it and crave it, even though I only live 10 minutes away from it, I’d still love to be able to wake up every day and look at it from my window/balcony! was so lovely to meet you and capture your family in these images xo

  • Bec | Mumma Tells

Oh my goodness, Josefa! What beautiful pictures. And memories. Stunning. Sometimes our promises are to the ocean, others it’s just enough to be outside, immersed in the great outdoors. Fresh air really does do wonders for the soul. X

I have never made a promise to the ocean – but in year 12 I did love to drive down to the beach and just watch the waves – I found it very soothing. I love how you have written about your break – it’s just beautiful.
And those photos are amazing – well done Aroha !!
    Have the best day !

  • Beautifullly composed post. I think there is nothing more cleansing than making promises to the ocean. loving your blog!

  • Such lovely words and beautiful photos. At the moment I would love to be by the ocean.

  • Gorgeous photo’s Josefa and beautiful sentiment. Family is everything isn’t it? I offer my promises and hopes to the wind, to see where it will take them.

Beautiful pics Josefa – I’d love to use your post to promote Gold Coast holidays (they don’t have to be all theme parks and neon lights). We have a lovely extended family holiday every year at Brunswick Heads – I feel the same about the spiritual recharge that it offers (although I could certainly eat and DRINK less for sure). Glad you were rested and energised and so nice our catch-up was part of a lovely holiday.

  • Robyn (Mrs D)

You always have such a way with words. I feel like I need to put everything down, pick up the kids and rush down to the beach and just ‘be’! Love that very last photo too – gorgeous xx

  • Oh those photos are beautiful! I knew she would do a lovely job.
Nothing like a few days away to just restore everything is there?

  • Pip (@melbournelass)

My favourite place to make them – the tide takes them out and saves them for when I need them back

  • Rach

  • AParentingLife

I make promises to the ocean all the time. In fact I may just drive past her at random times so as to just see her for a minute or two. Beautiful post with gorgeous photos
